Last weekend, I had the pleasure of dining at Mama Ashanti Waterfront located in Kuwinda Langata, Nairobi, Kenya. As soon as I walked in, I was enveloped by the vibrant atmosphere filled with the aroma of authentic West African cuisine. My visit took place around 6 PM, making it the perfect time to unwind after a long day.
Upon entering, I was greeted by the friendly staff, but what truly stood out was the exceptional service provided by Grace Murage. From the moment I sat down, she was attentive and made me feel right at home. Her warm smile and friendly demeanor set the perfect tone for what would be a delightful evening.
I was in the mood for something traditional, so I opted for the Jollof Spaghetti, which came highly recommended. The moment it arrived, I could see why. The vibrant colors of the dish were captivating, and the first bite transported me to the heart of West Africa. Every spoonful was rich in flavor, bursting with aromatic spices that perfectly honored the original recipes.
Alongside the Jollof, I couldn’t resist trying the Grilled Fish with Rice and Spinach Sauce. This was another fantastic choice, beautifully cooked, with the fish flaking perfectly at the touch of my fork. The spinach sauce added a wonderful creaminess that beautifully complemented the dish. The quality was outstanding, making my meal truly fulfilling.
What struck me most was the ambience. The green and chill spaces created a relaxing environment. While savoring my meal, I appreciated the lovely music playing in the background, which further enhanced the whole experience. Grace checked in on me multiple times, ensuring that everything was to my liking.
Before I knew it, I found myself eagerly contemplating a second helping! The values of excellent home cooking are deeply imbued in every dish served at Mama Ashanti, making it easy to forget that I was dining out and not in the warmth of my own home.
As I wrapped up my evening and settled the bill, I felt a deep sense of satisfaction not just from the incredible food and service but also from the value I received. It’s not often that you find a place where service and quality seamlessly come together at such a reasonable price.
